So for the past few weeks social media has been filled with videos from celebrities and just regular folks doing the Ice Bucket challenge to bring awareness and to donate to ALS.
In case some of y’all don’t know what ALS is:
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.

So the basis of the challenge is to dump ice water over your head obviously. Then you donate to ALS Association, then you challenge your friends to do the same.
Sounds kind of fun yes?
Well the fun police have begun to make these types of comments:
y’all wasting a lot of water.
Why not just donate, why waste all this water.
If I lived in Detroit I’d be mad seeing all these challenges (yes someone posted that on a post I had on facebook).
Meanwhile, The ALS Association has received over 22 million bucks through these challenges.
But I got some questions for the fun police.
Are you out there yelling at people who water their lawn every night?
Are you out there yelling at people who let the water run while they brush their teeth?
Are you out there timing everyone’s shower to make sure they aren’t wasting any water?
Are you out there making sure folks are getting the minimum ice in the drinks?
Are you out there telling kids they can’t play with the hose on a hot summer day?
